These high traffic areas were sealed with a unique ‘dry max’ oil product which instantly dries and cures immediately upon application. The client will not need to re-sand these timbers, only oil and buff every few months to retain the amazing durability of this timber. SIKA products were extremely important to the successful preparation of the base as a higher leveling tolerance than usual was required. Sika Epocem 81 used in conjunction with Sika quartz sand and 155W primer was mixed and used to smooth out large variations in the floor area. Both parquet and plank were then bonded to the base using T54 elastic adhesive.
As this is a ground floor concrete base, the acoustic performance is exceptional as impact sound is transmitted down through the materials to achieve very low airborne and impact sound levels.
